What Food Should You Feed Your Puppy?

Choosing the right food to feed your new puppy is crucial to their overall health and well-being and something that should be done with careful thought and consideration.  This is one of the many reasons why we choose to wean our puppies with the B.A.R.F. (biologically appropriate raw food) diet.

Puppies are started on ground beef and goats milk.  We introduce 3 proteins, beef, poultry and venison.  Puppies are fed a variety of fruits and vegatables. At 6 weeks puppies are introduced to raw meaty bones in the form of whole chicken legs. Around 6 weeks of age puppies are introduced to Lifes Abundance All Life Stages kibble.  We recommend feeding your puppy a Biologically Raw Appropriate Food (B.A.R.F.) diet or Lifes Abundance Kibble, at the very least, the first 30 days your puppy is home.  This will ensure your puppies digestive system develops strong.  Our recommendations for treats during this time are: All Natural Cereal puffs (no added sugar), Frozen Blueberries, Dried Liver, Cheerios,

Dried Sweet Potatoes, Dried Apples, Dried Bananas.

Lifes Abundance can not be bought in stores.  Please click on the link below to order prior to your puppy coming home.

  9. Slicker brush and metal comb.  There are several brands.  I use an off brand and have been satisfied.

  10. Collar and leash.  Your puppy will not be leash trained when he/she comes home. We use a continous leash for training and a collar and leash once puppy is leashed trained.

  11. We use small beds for puppies   As your puppy grows he or she may or may want to sleep on a bed.  Many bernedoodles prefer the floor!

  12. Puppy shampoo.  I use Lifes Abundance Shampoo and spray conditioner.  Baby shampoo works well, too!

  13. Flea & Tick treatment.  I never use any of these chemicals.  I strongly recommend you do not, also.  My everyday treatment is: 1/4 c of apple cider vinegar in 1 gallon of water.  This is the source of your dogs drinking water.  If we are outside during flea and tick season, I have a spray bottle with 50% apple cider vinegar and water that I spritz on the dogs.
